Turkey's Trade Deficit Widened 8.3% Through July 2026. Macro Data Alone Can't Explain Why

SINGAPORE - Amzeal -- Turkey's trade deficit has widened 8.3% so far in 2026, according to the country's official trade statistics, the same national data that flows into macro platforms like the International Trade Centre's Trade Map (ITC Trade Map), a joint World Trade Organization and United Nations agency's global trade database covering more than 150 countries.

Turkey's 2025 trade deficit reached $92 billion, the largest on record, as imports grew 6.2% to roughly $364 billion against exports of $269.7 billion, according to TradeInt's review of the year's shipment data. That is the structural difference between the two layers of trade data. ITC Trade Map and comparable national statistics report totals: how much a country imported or exported, broken down by product category and partner country, updated monthly or annually.
