The International Misophonia Foundation Submits Proposal to WHO for ICD-11 Classification of Misophonia

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Amzeal -- The International Misophonia Foundation (IMF) is proud to announce the submission of its proposal to the World Health Organization (WHO) to classify Misophonia as a discrete disorder in the International Classification of Diseases, 11th Revision (ICD-11). Misophonia, characterized by an intense emotional response to everyday sounds like chewing, tapping, or breathing, impacts millions of people worldwide.

Despite its significant effects on mental and emotional well-being, Misophonia remains underrecognized in medical and psychological communities. The IMF's proposal is grounded in rigorous scientific research and strengthened by community engagement, including a petition signed by over 1,000 individuals who provided heartfelt testimonials advocating for formal classification.
