E-Sport Community To Stage Aerial Appeal To Mark Zuckerberg

MENLO PARK, Calif. - Amzeal -- Meta's January 31, 2023 announcement that it will shut down Echo VR, a thriving virtual reality (VR) e-sport, has caused a significant outpour of online protests and concerns surrounding Meta's vision for the Metaverse and commitment to online communities. Despite the game's popularity and steady community growth over time, Meta plans to end Echo VR operations starting August 1, 2023, impacting tens of thousands of people.

Starting at 11:30AM PST on Wednesday, March 1st, members of the e-sport community will take its protest to the skies above Meta headquarters in Menlo Park. An airplane carrying a banner reading "ZUCK, DONT KILL VR ESPORTS FIGHTFORECHO.COM," will circle the heart of Silicon Valley and be visible throughout the Bay Area for over three hours. The aim is to appeal to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to reconsider his company's decision and keep the popular game alive.
