PPGJLI Announces Free Science Day Event for the Community on May 20, 2023
Amzeal News/10524555
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Amzeal -- Planting People Growing Justice™ Leadership Institute (PPGJLI) founder, Dr. Artika Tyner, announced that the non-profit organization will conduct a free Science Day on Saturday, May 20, 2023. The event is being held in partnership with 3M.
The community event will run from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. CST and be held at the Rondo Library, located at 461 Dale St. Individuals can register for Mobile eTickets to attend the free event online and reserve their spot. The special event provides family friendly fun that includes activity booths, book giveaways, and interactive activities.
The Science Museum of Minnesota will have a booth at the event and The Donut Trap will provide doughnuts. PPGJLI wants youths to know about the many opportunities available to them in science and STEM fields.
STEM studies encompass science, technology, engineering and math. Employment in those fields is in high demand, but there's a lack of qualified specialists, especially among the BIPOC community. Science surrounds everyone and is at work every day, yet few youngsters of color are encouraged to pursue a career in the sciences.

Activity booths will deal with basic concepts, but opportunities in science are limitless. They range from below the Earth's surface to outer space and everything in between. Science fields encompass the geophysical, chemistry, biology and astronomy, along with electrical engineering, computer science, geology, and physics.
The Science Day is designed to introduce youths to STEM-related fields and excite them about science through safe, interactive experiments. STEM studies teach problem solving skills and enable youths to utilize their creative, problem solving and critical thinking skills to solve a myriad of problems. People in STEM fields are vital for creating solutions for a diverse society.
Black, Latinx, Asian and Native Americans have made significant STEM contributions that impact the world. However, there's a distinct lack of diversity and representation in today's sciences.
The family-oriented Science Day on May 20, 2023, is a fun and fascinating way to introduce youths to science and STEM concepts. Through interactive activities, youths' interest will be ignited and they'll be inspired to get involved in science. Tickets are available now (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/science-day-tickets-617377511757?).
