Oxfordshire Student's Viral Social Media Proves Costly for Business Owner Dad
Amzeal News/10601552
An Oxfordshire student's social media takeover has proved rather costly for his Dad.
RADLEY, U.K. - Amzeal -- An Oxfordshire student's social media takeover has proved rather costly for his Dad.
Fifteen-year-old Leo Reynolds, currently undertaking work experience at his father's company, Hable took the internet by storm after a bold marketing experiment.
Hable, a change management consultancy based in Radley, welcomed Leo into the team for a week-long placement. As part of his experience, Leo worked closely with the marketing team and was given the reins to the company's LinkedIn page for a week-long takeover.
In a moment of entrepreneurial thinking, Leo asked his dad how much he'd be paid for his efforts. Mark Reynolds, CEO and Founder of Hable, keen to encourage initiative and business thinking in his youngest son, offered an interesting incentive: £1 for every engagement received on LinkedIn throughout the week-long takeover.
More on Amzeal News
Neither expected what happened next.
Leo's post quickly gained traction. By the next morning, it had gone viral, racking up over 15,000 impressions and hundreds of likes, comments, and shares. At the time of writing, Leo has earned more than £500 - and counting!
"I wanted to show Leo how powerful social media can be when used creatively," said Mark Reynolds, founder and CEO of Hable. "But I didn't expect to be quite this out of pocket!"
Leo, meanwhile, is already thinking about how to spend his earnings. "I'm looking at a new gaming laptop," he said.
The story highlights the value and power of social media, and the importance of nurturing entrepreneurial spirit in young people.
