New York State Association of Town Superintendents of Highways Deploys Digital Advertising and Radio Campaign Reminding New Yorkers of Essential Role of Local Roads and Bridges; Asks Governor Cuomo and Legislature to Increase Funding
ALBANY, N.Y. - Amzeal -- The New York State Association of Town Superintendents of Highways (NYSAOTSOH) today launched a broad public awareness campaign calling on Governor Cuomo and state lawmakers to increase funding for local roads and bridges in the 2021-2022 state budget.
The campaign reminds New Yorkers of the essential nature of properly maintained local roads and bridges and why it's more important than ever to invest in our local highway infrastructure during the pandemic.
The campaign features a 45-second video reminding New Yorkers that safe, passable local roads and bridges cannot be taken for granted. Every essential element of our daily lives before, during and after the pandemic rests on our ability to remain connected to the things most important to us.
Alex Gregor, Town of Southampton Highway Superintendent and President of NYSAOTSOH, said: "Without properly maintained local roads and bridges we would lose our connection to health care, schools, grocery stores, package delivery, and other essential parts of our lives. We're asking Albany to fully fund local roads and bridges to make sure we stay connected to all of these critical elements, and to each other."

The campaign, targeting virtually every corner of New York from Buffalo to Albany to Downstate, asks New Yorkers to become aware of the essential nature of our local roads and bridges, and to contact their state lawmakers to support full funding.
Ads began on January 30 and will run through April 1, or longer if necessary.
"We're making an unprecedented effort to remind our lawmakers that nothing is more important than keeping us connected to the things we need to protect and sustain our families and communities," said Rich Benjamin, NYSAOTSOH First Vice President and Town of Thompson Highway Superintendent.
