MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. - Sept. 25, 2018 - Amzeal -- Southfield, Michigan: NAWBO/EXCEL working in partnership with AccelerateKID® will host their 2nd event of 2018 with a Hackathon for middle school aged girls to help them learn the basics of JavaScript programming on Friday, September 28th, 2018 at Oakland Mall.

"NAWBO Excel the non-profit arm of National Association of Women Business Owners, Greater Detroit Chapter (NAWO GDC) is dedicated to providing programs that educate young women on business concepts helping them connect, learn and grow while moving towards professional or entrepreneurial careers says Michele Robinson, president of NAWBO/EXCEL."

During this one-day Hackathon, middle school girls from metropolitan Detroit will have an opportunity to learn about computer science (aka coding) using the JavaScript programming language to design an app. Leveraging the AccelerateKID® program which is a STEM.ORG® Accredited curriculum, students will work in teams to develop an app that can be used for marketing a business.
