Medalcraft Mint is one of the few American manufacturers of extra-large medallions to use a die-striking process rather than a casting process. We use a die-striking process because it creates crisp, precise images and a better overall product.

Die striking is a highly technical process that begins with our skilled Wisconsin team engraving customer-approved designs into a steel die block. Our production specialists then press the selected metal into the die cavity to make exact impressions of the image inside the die cavity.

This premium process enables us to use higher-quality metals than used in cast pieces, which use a softer metal and can wear over time. Image reproduction on casted extra-large medallions also tends to be less consistent than die-struck pieces.

Extra-large medallions provide additional space for messaging

The primary design advantage of extra-large medallions is the ability to fit more imagery and text on the face, or to use larger type sizes for easier viewing. Faces, logos, buildings and other images simply jump off the surface of these large medallions.

Extra-large medallions also are popular centerpieces in medallion award plaques. The combined space gives you the opportunity to include more extensive verbiage than is possible on a large medallion alone.
