Advocate Radiation Oncology, Port Charlotte Town Center co-host fundraising event
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Amzeal -- The sixth annual Chocolate Fest in Port Charlotte raised $5,500 to support Children's Cancer Center, a Florida-based nonprofit that serves children and families who are battling cancer and chronic blood disorders.
Co-sponsored by Advocate Radiation Oncology and Port Charlotte Town Center, Chocolate Fest was held Sept. 30 at the shopping center. Chocolate aficionados from the area were provided to-go boxes that are donated annually by Encompass Health Rehab Hospital to satisfy their cravings with chocolate confections, baked goods and desserts provided by local businesses and organizations, including restaurants, country clubs, bakeries and ice cream shops.
"Chocolate Fest was a fun way to satisfy your sweet tooth while supporting a great cause," said Dr. David Rice, a board-certified radiation oncologist who treats patients at Advocate Radiation Oncology's cancer treatment center in Port Charlotte. "There are so many children and teens in our community who are battling cancer, and the Children's Cancer Center is providing families with support and resources during their time of need."
