Avionic Corrosion Protection for Aircraft

Advanced Corrosion Protection for Avionic, Electrical and Mechanical Systems
WOKING, U.K. - Amzeal -- Advanced Corrosion Protection for Aerospace Systems
Corrosion remains a major challenge for the aerospace industry, directly affecting aircraft reliability, safety and lifecycle costs. Exposure to moisture, salt-laden air, temperature extremes and airborne contaminants places constant stress on avionic, electrical and mechanical systems where performance margins are critical. Effective corrosion prevention is therefore essential to maintaining airworthiness and operational readiness.
SuperCORR A has been specifically developed to meet these demanding conditions. Originally formulated for military applications, it is now widely used across aerospace and defence sectors.
Addressing Aerospace Corrosion Challenges
Aircraft frequently operate in environments that accelerate corrosion, including coastal regions, humid climates and low-altitude maritime missions. While structural corrosion is a recognised issue, degradation within electrical connectors and mechanical flight systems can be equally disruptive. In avionic systems, corrosion increases contact resistance, compromises signal integrity and can cause intermittent faults that are difficult to diagnose.

Dual-Function Protection and Lubrication
SuperCORR A delivers both long-term corrosion protection and dry lubrication. It forms an ultra-thin hydrophobic film, approximately seven microns thick, that displaces moisture and inhibits oxidation without affecting electrical conductivity or tight mechanical tolerances.
Unlike waxes or heavy oils, the non-hardening coating does not attract contaminants or build up over time. It protects against atmospheric and salt-induced corrosion while reducing fretting and wear in moving or vibration-prone components.
Protection for Electrical and Mechanical Systems
SuperCORR A is highly effective on connectors, switches, wiring harnesses and avionic modules. By preventing corrosion at contact points, it helps maintain signal integrity and reduce performance degradation caused by oxidation or electro-migration. The formulation is non-flammable, RoHS compliant and free from sulphates, chlorides, petroleum-based materials and halogens. It complies with MIL-DTL-87177B (revised MIL-L-87177A) Type I, Grade B.
For mechanical flight controls operating in high-humidity or maritime environments, the dry lubricating film reduces friction while protecting against corrosion. This dual action supports smoother operation, extended maintenance intervals and improved aircraft availability.

Specialist Barrier Film Technology
SuperCORR A forms an airtight protective seal against acid gases including sulphur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), hydrogen sulphide (H₂S), ammonia (NH₃), chlorine-based gases and hydrogen fluoride (HF), a by-product of certain fire suppression systems.
Available in 340g aerosol cans (boxes of 12) and 5kg liquid containers. Easy to apply during maintenance, repair and overhaul activities. Its ability to penetrate confined areas makes it particularly valuable for MRO teams.
Preventing corrosion is significantly more cost-effective than repairing or replacing failed components. By reducing premature failures, extending maintenance intervals and enhancing reliability, SuperCORR A supports both operational efficiency and safety across aerospace applications.
