Company responds to customer requests and discontinued supply from competitors with in-house PBI manufacturing.
DORVAL, Quebec - Amzeal -- In response to growing demand and limited market supply, 1-Material has announced the launch of its in-house production of Polybenzimidazole (PBI), one of the most heat- and chemically-resistant engineering polymers available today.
"The development of Polybenzimidazole was a direct response to a customer request," said Steven Xiao, head scientist at 1-Material. "Another major supplier had discontinued the material, and our clients needed a reliable alternative."
Known for its exceptional thermal stability, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance, Polybenzimidazole is a key material in industries like aerospace, industrial filtration, and chemical processing, as well as high-performance protective apparel.
As expected with its importance, Polybenzimidazole is a highly sought-after material for advanced engineering applications. As such, 1-Material has stepped up to provide a reliable source of the material to its customers after a major supplier left a market gap.

1-Material has dedicated itself to standardizing Organic Nano Electronic (ONE) materials for organic thin film applications. The company understands the necessity of this venture and the challenges associated with it.
1-Material has extensive experience in synthesis, purification, and characterization. It is now moving its focus onto processing, formulation, and validation. The company does not pursue novel structures. Instead, it aims to standardize the most well-established and commonly studied materials in the industry.
Given its experience, 1-Material will scale up production to provide high-quality Polybenzimidazole to its customers. The material will be suitable for academic, commercial, and industrial use.
